First thing every morning, look into a mirror and say lots of good things about yourself to your reflection in the mirror. To get started at this exercise you may need to put post it notes around the edge of the mirror with positive affirmations that you have written up ahead of time.
If you have trouble coming up with these positive statements on your own do to negative programing controlling your thoughts then get outside help to write quotes or phrases that will help to build your confidence. You can use passages from self-help books, enlist the help of a friend that you know has good self confidence or seek help from a professional life coach or therapist.
It’s really important that the statements you use be as positive and uplifting as possible so don’t just take this step lightly. And make sure your statements are what we call “I” statements.
For example, look into the mirror and say something like, “I’m a happy and confident person.” not “I hope to become a happy and confident person.” And definitely not, “I would sure like to be a happy and confident person.”
Make your statements such that you already have the qualities that you want to have and your unconscious will help you to get what you want. Remember, you don’t have to believe it to say it but you must say it to believe it.
