When considering your own self improvement, try to learn as much as you can. Your personality is an important tool for your success, but you will also have to do a lot of studying.
Stress is one of the biggest enemies of happiness. Stress in the mind hurts us both mentally and physically across our body. Letting go of stress can be the key to better thinking and meeting our goals with clear purpose and calm intent. Schedule a time during your day to be alone, relax, and clear your mind of everything. This time to yourself can make you feel more peaceful.
Make friends who are positive-minded and bring joy to your life. Self improvement is easier when your associates do not belittle your efforts and tempt you from your goals but instead share your drive for self-improvement.
Leadership is essential in your self improvement. While there are multiple ways to define leadership, most people regard it as influence. Analyze your leadership progress. What are the specific incidences that made the biggest influence in your life? What aspects of your life did those events bring about? What do you feel makes you a good team player? Answering these questions should help you realize how you can improve yourself as a leader and a team member.
Praise others, flatter them, and show your appreciation. If you are kind to other people, you will be kind to yourself.
Write a personalized affirmation. On an index card or postcard, write down all the things that are good about you. Carry this list with you at all times, and take it out when you need to pick yourself up. Another great idea is to recite the list while filming yourself, so that you can view the footage regularly. “Why would I want to do this?”, you may be asking.
Emergency Fund
Start contributing to an emergency fund. The only constant in life is change, and sometimes those changes require use to take on unexpected expenses. Even if you can only save $10 per week, do so. It will come in really handy when something goes wrong. Having an emergency fund will prevent you from having to use credit cards to pay for unexpected expenses, which will save you a great deal in interest over the years.
Believe that your future can improve over your past. Aim for frequent and continuous improvement. Set a goal to do something you couldn’t do yesterday, or improve on something you were able to do.
You can’t tend to others needs until your own needs are met. Wherever you are mentally and emotionally, always take time to relax and check in with your needs.
Remember to treat people with respect regardless of how much power they have, or what they can do for you. The way you deal with people speaks volumes about your character.
Start organizing your life. Getting organized can give you a wonderful feeling of accomplishment, and staying organized will only increase your confidence. Better yet, you will no longer worry about finding necessary things or dealing with the stress that comes with living in a cluttered environment. When you know where everything is, you probably feel calmer.
Do not be afraid to take risks in the pursuit of happiness. Do not allow yourself to fear failure more than you desire success. Taking risks may take you out of your comfort zone, but it is not irrational to do so. Furthermore, taking reasonable risks shows that you are brave. This boost to your self confidence will carry you far!
