Emotional Intelligence - Put It To Work For You   The concept of emotional intelligence is something many people aren't even aware of in our world today. I don't know if you have heard this term being tossed around your circle of social contacts yet but if not you soon will. In the past, much of our world focused on rational logical thinking as the basis of success with a total disregard for emotions. In fact, I remember the jokes about the military that said something like, "If the military wanted you to have emotions they would have issued them." This same mentality has permeated much of the business and educational environment as well up until more recently. Yes, times have begun to change and research is leaning more in favor of emotional intelligence as the prime determinate for success with much less emphasis placed on IQ. Imagine that, the all important measure of mental intelligence is being knocked down a peg or two and EQ is taking it's place. We do of course still need at least an average level of IQ but the stronger determining factor in whether a person with average or above IQ will ultimately be successful is the level of their emotional intelligence. You can have the highest IQ in the world but if your ability to get along in the world on an emotional basis is low you IQ becomes just about worthless to you. We all know those people with super high intelligence but are so messed up emotionally that they fail at all most everything in life. I'll bet you have even said things to yourself like, "I sure wish I had half as much intelligence or talent as they do and if I did I could sure go far."
